Story Outline

Washington building burns out in the distance while a soldier describes the current situation of the war. He and his squad make it to the current battle and before he is deployed onto the battlefield, he contemplates the events that led up to this madness and the quest to defend Canada from annexation. As they arrive on an empty field, hundreds of American soldiers emerge from the bushes and his platoon retaliates. The main character is knocked unconscious and he wakes up to a ruined field after the battle. Realizing his platoon has indeed won, he continues to search for them. On his way he sees many other fights with the constantly invading Americans, and realizes the amount of losses both sides have suffered and the futile nature of it all. After a few days of searching he decided to follow a paved path to find some sort of shelter. Just as he heard sounds of resemblance to his platoon, the enemy suddenly fires at him. Sustaining a wound to his abdomen, he falls to the ground and begins bleeding. Before his untimely death however, he crawls to a dropped letter on the trail which he opens with his bloody hands. Seeing the letter read that the treaty of Ghent is being signed, he gives a sigh of relief and dies, clutching the letter in his hands knowing that the war has finally ended without massive consequences. 200 years later, the flags of Canada, Great Britain, and the USA flew together, side by side.
